Dear Fellow Residents of Luceti,

Wouldn't it be entertaining to put on some Games here in Luceti? Not that the Cultural Fair wasn't amusing, or any of the other activities going on here -- but true gladiatorial games. The pitting of one creature against another! Think of the thrill and drama and the release that goes along with that sort of entertainment! And here in Luceti we are ideally suited for a very exciting Games indeed.

Who would you sponsor or volunteer for this entertainment? Or would it all be...

[There is a pause here.]

Pokey-mans? I find human beings MUCH more interesting to watch, personally.

Well, you'd normally use it to knock people out of the arena. If you get pushed back behind a certain line, you get knocked off and into the water below! I've never seen an actual match, but I know how it works.

And it's not like throwing water really, it's more like - you know how the thing with the wings gave people special powers? I met some Kipinn people who could make blasts of wind. ...But anyway, it's like that. Bending is our world's magic.

This sounds EXACTLY like what I was hoping for! [And her voice reflects that excitement.] In fact, it sounds like a stupendous form of entertainment.

Could benders battle pokeymans, do you think?

[breezing]

Pokemon? Well, probably. I train with Soren everyday, but we've never really fought since that's not normally how it works? At least, that's not how people've said it works.

[ Oh, right, she should explain one point there... ] Soren's my partner; he's a Swellow Pokemon. He bends air like I do.

I think it'd depend on if the Pokemon wanted to do it, or if the trainers wanted to do it, too.

I've met a Pickachu. [She feels the need to put that fact out there.] It's small and yellow, a wonderful power color. What color is your Swellow? Something sky-ish, I suppose. Blue?

Oh, Linda? [ ...The only Pikachu Ikki herself knows, so she's just guessing. ] What's a power color?

But yeah, he's blue! And red, and white. Actually - here, hang on. [ Ikki's going to stop speaking and go to video. She's in the yard of the Avatar house, and angles her journal so that Effie gets a good view of Soren, perched on a tree above her. ]

OH! [Effie sounds rather surprised. Not at all what she was expecting, apparently.] It's....a bird.

Yep! Swellows are flying-type bird pokemon. A lot of his attacks are air-based, just like my defense.

Would people get a great deal of entertainment out of watching a girl fight a bird, I wonder?

[It is an unusual concept, but not THAT far out, probably.]

Oh, I'm not going to fight Soren, or anyone else.

You want Korra and Bolin for that. Maybe Uncle Zuko? Airbenders don't fight.

[ unless you invade their homes or try to take over the world but that's just asking for it. ]

But that's silly! It would seem to me that those in the air would have the greatest advantage!

That's not a good reason to fight people, though. Soren's culture is different from mine, so I know pokemon have their own battles, but...for me, I'm an air nomad. I'm proud of that!

And we don't start violence. We endure! And if we have to, we'll defend ourselves, but...first, we should try to be friends or try to at least understand the other side.

[What an utterly unusual way of living. Nomads? Well, that made a bit of sense -- probably traveling on the wind and all. But settling for endurance when there was so much more to life?]

That sounds terrible. And very harsh on the skin as well. Meaning no disrespect, of course! We all have our ways.

she obviously missed something here. Ikki's so used to the term, she didn't think to figure out what people might take away from the terminology. ]

Well, I live on Air Temple Island normally and there's some wind, and lots more when we bend, but I don't think that's really a problem?? At least no one ever said it was and I don't remember it being a problem, but I guess it could be and I just don't know about it yet. I can't tell 'cause Daddy's old enough to have some wrinkles anyway so I dunno if he ever did the moisturizing thing to begin with and he's not here to ask about it.
