Dear Fellow Residents of Luceti,

Wouldn't it be entertaining to put on some Games here in Luceti? Not that the Cultural Fair wasn't amusing, or any of the other activities going on here -- but true gladiatorial games. The pitting of one creature against another! Think of the thrill and drama and the release that goes along with that sort of entertainment! And here in Luceti we are ideally suited for a very exciting Games indeed.

Who would you sponsor or volunteer for this entertainment? Or would it all be...

[There is a pause here.]

Pokey-mans? I find human beings MUCH more interesting to watch, personally.

[The first response that comes to mind is that she can't be very good at the public relations aspect of her job, going by the response here. The second is that if she's just doing what she's used to - what normally works - it's more likely that her world operates on a different level or moral code.

Lady, I think this village's idea of PR differs from yours, and that's why your suggestion isn't going over so well. You might wanna fine-tune it.

That you poll the public's idea of "entertainment". This lot's not big on games, from the sound of it. Not that kind.

"Poll" the public? You mean gather and aggregate public opinion?

That would take some time -- but isn't an unreasonable idea. Yes.

Why -- because the public forum is where one can make a difference! Exercise one's autonomous power!

[Or something. Or at least pretend to do those things.]

Make a difference? Nah. [He leans back against the seat he's in, leaving his journal on the counter.] The people who come up with the ideas and put them into action are the ones who do that.

You're not so good at the subtle cues, are you? [He's not being directly insulting, though no doubt his curious tone could be read as rude.] That was supposed to be an encouragement to take initiative.

Don't get ahead of yourself - I don't think anyone's gonna support any cage matches. But something more positive? You bet.
