Dear Fellow Residents of Luceti,

Wouldn't it be entertaining to put on some Games here in Luceti? Not that the Cultural Fair wasn't amusing, or any of the other activities going on here -- but true gladiatorial games. The pitting of one creature against another! Think of the thrill and drama and the release that goes along with that sort of entertainment! And here in Luceti we are ideally suited for a very exciting Games indeed.

Who would you sponsor or volunteer for this entertainment? Or would it all be...

[There is a pause here.]

Pokey-mans? I find human beings MUCH more interesting to watch, personally.

That's a sport back home, with a big arena and points and people throw water and fire and earth at one another with bending, I mean.

I'm guessing that you won't be one of the people out there fighting.

...You mean "Pokemon", right?

[The mention of "Pokey-mans" definitely got his attention enough to respond, and it's true that our world is...pretty centered around Pokemon battles. But describing it as "gladiatorial", uh...]

YES! That's what I said. Pokeyman. I've heard that they battle together for supremacy.

[Voice]

[trinkett]

Of course not! [She twitters her response back brightly enough.] I'm an organizer, not a Champion.

Pro-bending. [This is actually very interesting indeed.] You mean one just....throws water? And others get wet?

[trinkett]

[Oh yes. The girl.]

It's very simple! Two combatants enter the Arena; the one who wins....wins.

[Seems simple enough when you put it that way. And not too bloody.]

You'll happily throw other people's lives away, make them suffer, but god forbid you risk your own. Met enough people like you in my time. Most of them are dead now.

Oh that Sharpe fellow, busting down a body's door at any hour. Effie sighed. "Enter, Sharpe."

[Voice]

From whom is approval needed? I thought this place wasn't ruled by any of the locals.

[Survival, of course, can't be dangled as a prize. But there are other things that can.]

Why, the winner receives the Champion's Crown! And, of course, many celebrations in his or her honor.

He caught the door-knob in his palm and gave the door just enough shoulder to open it in a soft arc of (mostly) its own momentum. And there he stood in the doorway, a week-old bruise just now fading across his right cheek. He'd been punched by a rather irate (and unfairly overpowered) Sokka at Prim's party, and the bruise still told the story when he'd rather see it buried.

He cleared his throat. "I trust you're well...?"

Good manners from Richard Sharpe? Never a good sign. Mostly, it was a sign of more awkward things to come.

Of course! There's always a Games to keep the public entertained. [She'll just ignore the topic of how contestants are selected. That's not up for debate.] Everyone loves it.

Wins at what?

[Waaaaait a second.]

You don't mean like fighting right? Do you want people to do boxing?

[trinkett]

[Oooh, ANOTHER magical horse! Effie smiles brightly into the journal's video function.]

Jousting sounds WONDERFUL. But what could be more intense than that?

I don't see anyone stopping me. Do you?

"Oh, I don't know," she answered breezily. "You always seem pleased with them."

[Except for the when all's said and done part.]

ME? [She scoffs at this.] The point of the matter is that this would not be entertaining for anyone else. I'm not a fighter!

[Voice]

No one dies here, from everything I've been told. So that...that model of entertainment would not be possible.

I'm sorry -- "safety procedures"?

Perhaps for practice? [That can't be THAT far-fetched.]

Um, I think you've got it wrong. People do die here, but return to life about a week later. That is a big difference from not dying at all.

I personally think you are taking this too seriously. Games are meant to be entertaining. Light-hearted fun!

I did see a little yellow one, once. He didn't seem to be too much trouble!

[And had been furry and adorable to boot.]
