[Since her return, Effie hasn't been up to talking over the journals. Mostly she's been listening and trying to recover -- locked away in Katniss's house until Jack Horner returned, and then locked away in Horner's house. She hasn't wanted to be around people -- not with her face and much of her body still sporting some pretty vicious-looking scars.

In Capitolista culture, scars are just about the death-knell to any self-respecting woman's social life, career -- you name it.

Today, though, she is going to venture out to pick up some walnut-free cookies for Jack and some clementines for Clementine and some romance novels for herself. Bodice-rippers. Real smutty, steamy stuff that's perfect for escapism, even if one can only escape for a few hours per book. It's worth it.

Find her at the library and the grocery store. She will be wearing a cloak pulled almost all the way over her face, a scarf around the lower half of her face, and elbow-length gloves; tall boots and tights cover any evidence of violence on her legs. She's trying not to draw attention to herself, though she is wearing complete make-up and bright green wig.]

[Well, since he's being a gentleman...] Here. You may take this bag. I'm just...there are a few things I need to get. I'm especially interested in walnut-free items. Jack seems to be allergic to them.

Hooo. That shouldn't be too hard. Are walnuts really in that many things?

I don't THINK so. [She turns back to the shelves. Time to start scanning labels again.] But one can never be too careful, don't you think?

I think I heard of the guy, at least.

[That was actually...a good response. Effie has heard lots of negative things about Jack. MOST of them, of course, have been from females. Especially that French nurse.]

He does! I don't often go there, though. I don't drink.

But one doesn't need to DRINK to enjoy festivities! Surely...surely YOU don't imbibe in more than is good for you, Masaomi!

Not usually, no. Technically, and this one's on the downlow, but I'm underage.

There are........age limits? [Weird. Weird, but good.]

Officially. You're supposed to have come of age to go and drink.

[Effie sniffs at any connections between drink and adulthood.] I know a man -- Haymitch Abernathy. COMPLETELY insufferable! He drinks far too much for anyone's good. If you were in his company for even ten minutes, you'd never lift strong spirits to your lips.

Oh, so that guy's a regular alcoholic then? Yeah, I know how that one would rub someone the wrong way. [A little nod, mostly to himself, as he places a hand over his heart, with the bag sagging around his wrist ]

[Effie could not be more pleased at your level of social awareness, Masaomi. She throws one last item -- a can of pineapple -- into the shopping bag before heading toward the exit.]

Sometimes I think he does it purely to bother me. But yes -- it's certainly a public menace.

Well, if the man's careless you can know that he doesn't do it to agitate you, at least. [In theory. But he'll leave it at that, instead hefting the bags to be more comfortable the carry as they set off. Huh, he'll learn where she lives now]
