Dear Fellow Residents of Luceti,

Wouldn't it be entertaining to put on some Games here in Luceti? Not that the Cultural Fair wasn't amusing, or any of the other activities going on here -- but true gladiatorial games. The pitting of one creature against another! Think of the thrill and drama and the release that goes along with that sort of entertainment! And here in Luceti we are ideally suited for a very exciting Games indeed.

Who would you sponsor or volunteer for this entertainment? Or would it all be...

[There is a pause here.]

Pokey-mans? I find human beings MUCH more interesting to watch, personally.

[She had seen the post earlier in the day. Listened to it and watched all the reactions roll in. Katniss wanted to be surprised by Effie's notion. Shocked and angry like most everyone who responded. But her first instinct hadn't been any of that. It had been to merely run into the woods like a coward. Run to the treehouse sanctuary that she hadn't been to in some time.

That was the fear the notion of the Games still put into her. The idea of being a part of them again. But it wasn't just that. Because she had recognized so many voices, so many of the little pictures. People whose opinion actually mattered to her. And, for the first time, she had to wonder if she had done the right thing in casting her vote.

The 76th Annual Hunger Games would have come and gone by now if time continued to move in Panem. The children of the Capitol would have played. Would have died. Because, despite Peeta's pleas, she had voted for that.

Would they think less of her then if they knew that, for one minute of one day, she had thought exactly like Effie? Had wanted others to participate in the Hunger Games?

She might not have returned at all to the house that night if it hadn't been for Clint's challenge. Effie had her pride, just like she had her notion of the Games being entertainment. She was an idiot at times, yes. But still someone Katniss had promised to protect. And Katniss knew just how lethal Clint could be with a bow. One of the only people she had ever met that was better than her. Even if she disagreed with Effie's idea, she still felt some duty to protect the woman.

Rather than greeting anyone upon arriving home, she walked straight up to Effie's room. Katniss didn't bother knocking, didn't bother doing anything aside from quietly pushing the door open and saying:]

Don't go.

Yep! Swellows are flying-type bird pokemon. A lot of his attacks are air-based, just like my defense.

You'll have less of an uproar as you did here at least.

I don't like ANY clothes being covered with sweat and dirt! [In fact, she looks horrified at the thought. But still dignified.]

A girl I know told me not to come here, you know.

Hmph. Uproars are not something I'm used to back home. [They are ruthlessly quashed.] They don't ever seem to linger on the way THIS one has.

And some have even threatened my LIFE.

Would people get a great deal of entertainment out of watching a girl fight a bird, I wonder?

[It is an unusual concept, but not THAT far out, probably.]

"Katniss!" For a moment, the brightness in Effie's voice is real. Just a moment. She'd wondered where Katniss had gotten off to.

"Don't go where?"

"If we can charge admission? THOSE coffers!" Though Effie had no idea what people would pay with. Maybe valuable personal items; perhaps treasures dug up from the land. "Though I'm fairly certain the Malnosso have taken a liking to me. Perhaps they'll finance it."

Effie Trinket. It is a pleasure, Mister Tsutsugami. What is your specialty?

I have personally read that many participants were injured and even KILLED in those games. Still, they drew in crowds and money. They were held VERY important by the culture they were situated in.

"I don't NEED luck. I have confidence. And poise."

Oh, I'm not going to fight Soren, or anyone else.

I am not sure that the traditional game of "football" was actually played in armor! I will have to go back to the library and check on that...

[There is still so much to learn about these ancient events.]

I....suppose they might have a right of refusal? [because the idea of dogs fighting is so...distasteful.]

Probably to protect her from all the people who now wanted to hunt her down and kill her.

"Have you never heard of accessorizing with animals?"

[A shrug.] It is not my role. I believe the entertainment factor would be quite low. I am far more useful as a promoter or organizer. The Malnosso know that.

You suppose? So you're just used to unwilling, probably untrained people being made to fight?

Not everyone is a fighter. Even those who are probably don't want to fight just for some kind of sick entertainment. Geez, they arrest people for doing that to animals at home and this is people.

"Heard of? Sure. Ever wanted to know about it? Can't say I have. But if you're wanting to play dress up with animals, why not settle for a nice dog?"

What about that pro-bending?

You want Korra and Bolin for that. Maybe Uncle Zuko? Airbenders don't fight.

[ unless you invade their homes or try to take over the world but that's just asking for it. ]

Not in Panem! In Panem it is perfectly acceptable, I assure you!

[She rushes to get this in there.]

And I understand about not everyone being a fighter. I'm not, for one.

"Could it be a big dog? That bites people I don't like?"

"One that bites people who don't like your game?"

But that's silly! It would seem to me that those in the air would have the greatest advantage!

"No! No...

The ones who want to hunt me down." She says this very calmly. A dog is actually quite a sensible idea.
