Is anyone here good at fixing things? [Because Richard Sharpe's precious pistol is still in pieces and she can't go to the Smithy because Sokka -- whom she has no idea is gone -- is Katniss's ex-boyfriend and there's awkwardness there. Also, she sounds absolutely cheerful and not like she's terrified for her life because of the aforementioned Sharpe.

Effie might be somewhat out of touch with many of her emotions and what's considered normal, but she knows Sharpe well enough to realize that he might very well shoot her on sight for what has happened.

That's why, when she goes out walking later, she has her new enormous dog towing her along. She got him for Christmas. The dog she wanted was this.

His name is Jason. Effie has to carry a towel to contain the slobber. His hairs are definitely sticking to her amazing Rufus Praza midnight blue Star coat (structured with Swarovski-like crystals over the heart.) She has to pick hairs out of her very thick makeup. But he's worth it. She feels safe for once -- actually, legitimately safe to be out.

[She had delivered the note by hand, slipping it under the door of Effie's apartment. In honor of the season, Katniss had even put forth effort to write in her best script. The gift had been a simple enough invitation, a welcome to return to the house if the woman so chose.

But since the delivery of the note sometime after the winter holiday, she hadn't heard back from the woman. And the part of her that really didn't want another roommate hadn't pressed the question. They had worked out a balance - her and Richard and Prim and Rue. It'd be a balance that Effie would easily interrupt.

So when she sees this, she's a little surprised to still hear nothing in this about the invite. But she answers anyway, with a quick:]

[Was it her old apartment? JACK'S old apartment? Because she'd moved out of there to another, away from everyone once Isaac had coerced her into brutality in that place.]

[She had no idea that the woman had moved. Katniss hadn't really seen her since Black Friday, otherwise preoccupied with her own life. With learning magic and keeping deals. Helping however she could in Peeta's adjustment to life here. Effie had, in her opinion, been here long enough to know how life worked.

She nods in response to Effie's question, not really all that surprised by the statement. Has she ever been one of Richard's favorite people?]

[Rue, being Rue, is up traveling about in the trees, her mockingjay companion flying along from branch to branch. It's faster than walking and much more fun anway. Up in the trees, she spots Effie and

Rue's honestly not sure whether to stare more at the woman once from the Capitol or the big fluffy dog. She drops out of her tree a good distance in front of Effie. Her mockingjay lands lightly on the top of her head.]

[The Chaperone jumps when the small girl comes sailing down from the trees, long way off or not. Effie is always on her guard while walking through Luceti. Jason simply drools more and wags his tail: his way of showing that he is happy.

He's pretty much happy all the time.]

Heavens, no! No, this is Jason. He's my guard dog. [She peers at the girl more closely.] Well, I never......HELLO, my dear Tribute! [She cannot recall Rue's name, but she definitely recognizes her.]

[The still unnamed Mockingjay whistles a few notes over in Jason's direction. Rue looks at the big dog and the big blobs of drool dripping to the ground, then back to Effie. Tribute. She hasn't heard that since the games and cringes slightly.]

And you're the escort for District Twelve. [Rue remembers the woman from the recaps of each district's reaping. She tries to remember the name Katniss had told her.] Effie Trinket?
